Beckingham Wood

Beckingham cum Saundby Parish Councillors

The Parish Council Chair is elected annually, by the members of the Council. The Councillors are elected every four years, by the public.
In addition to attending regular monthly meetings, councillors may also attend sub-committees and undertake other work on behalf of the Parish Council, representing the local community. An individual Councillor may also be elected by the Council as a representative on other bodies such as the local school governing body.

Generally, the amount of time a Councillor spends on their duties is about three hours a week, though obviously some may spend more time than this, and others less.

A Parish Councillor may be contacted directly (see Councillors details) by a member of the parish or local organisation with a genuine local concern. The Councillor will have the right to raise that concern to the Council at the monthly public meeting.

A Councillor has a responsibility to represent the local community and organisations dealing with local concerns and issues, helping to make it a better place in which to live and work.
