Long Service Award

Beckingham cum Saundby Parish Council were proud to acknowledge a long service award at their recent meeting on Monday 13th July 2009. Mrs Marjorie Fletcher, or Madge as she prefers to be known, was elected to The Parish Council on 3rd May 1984, when she was married to Wilson Haigh who farmed in Saundby for many years. Elected with 9 other representatives they all declared to accept the office and faithfully fulfil the duties according to the best of their abilities.
Sadly Wilson died but as time moved on Madge met Robin Fletcher and they were married in June 1992. They moved from Saundby to Beckingham during December 2000 but she retained her role as Councillor for Saundby
Campaigning over the years, Saundby residents have benefited in getting street lighting, bus shelters, notice boards and more recently a much needed speed reduction scheme through the village. 25 years of dedication is a truly remarkable and meritorious achievement and the Parish Council conveyed their thanks on behalf of the Council and the Community. A suitably engraved carriage clock, card and flowers were presented to Madge, by Chairman Brian Suart.

Special thanks

Ken has served the area both as a District and County Councillor. It was at the recent June elections that Ken decided to retire from his County role having completed 20 years dedicated service.

We are pleased to retain him as our District Councillor which he has held for some 18 years but felt that acknowledgement for his loyalty should be recorded. Beckingham cum Saundby Parish Council Chair Brian Suart proposed a vote of thanks to Ken presenting him with a card and gift.
