Footpath One begins at the Kissing Gate on the right of A631 bridge (Beckingham side) opposite the Trent Port Pub. Great care should be taken when crossing the road. Follow the river Trent flood bank past the Kerry Mill and on to the drain just before the railway bridge, approximately 1.3km. Along the way Surveyor Pegs can be seen inserted into the ground on top of the flood bank at regular intervals - these are to ensure the bank is kept at the right height. Footpath One becomes ...
...Footpath Five where the Trent loops round and on reaching the drain the path becomes Bole Footpath One and turns right in a westerly direction away from the river Trent along Long Bank which follows Saundby Beck for about 0.4km and reaches Saundby Ponds, a hidden gem where wildlife can be spotted, such as swans, coots, heron and dragonflies. Follow the path part way round the top of the ponds and on a short distance to the railway bridge where Bole Footpath One ends and Bole Footpath Six begins.
